چکیده

Abstract. In this paper, a method for adapting existing 2D and 3D unstructured meshes to modified domain boundaries is presented. The method simultaneously employs mesh smoothing, moving and untangling. It should be considered as an alternative to mesh regeneration often used in either optimization or unsteady flow computations with moving boundaries. With respect to the widely used Laplacian smoothing scheme, the proposed algorithm additionally employs a geometric constraint which limits the allowed moving space for each vertex and manages to overcome the generation of invalid/inverted elements even in the case of extreme boundary deformations. The resulting algorithm is easy to implement and has low computational cost. Here, it is demonstrated in 2D and 3D meshes under deformation, with triangular and tetrahedral elements respectively, including cascade meshes with differently treated periodic boundaries.

Explicit Surface Remeshing

We present a new remeshing scheme based on the idea of improving mesh quality by a series of local modifications of the mesh geometry and connectivity. Our contribution to the family of local modification techniques is an areabased smoothing technique. Area-based smoothing allows the control of both triangle quality and vertex sampling over the mesh, as a function of some criteria, e.g. the mes...

A Method Based on Fuzzy Logic Technique for Smoothing in 2D

This paper describes a novel approach based on fuzzy logic technique for smoothing process on the unstructured meshes in 2D. The proposed method works local on triangulation. Therefore, remeshing does not require. It is known that other smoothing operations such as laplacian smoothing , optimization based smoothing, angle based smoothing, and hybrid smoothing operations work global. That is, in...

Incompressible laminar flow computations by an upwind least-squares meshless method

In this paper, the laminar incompressible flow equations are solved by an upwind least-squares meshless method. Due to the difficulties in generating quality meshes, particularly in complex geometries, a meshless method is increasingly used as a new numerical tool. The meshless methods only use clouds of nodes to influence the domain of every node. Thus, they do not require the nodes to be conn...

Size Functions and Mesh Generation for High-Quality Adaptive Remeshing

We present a new method for remeshing of triangular and tetrahedral meshes. Relative element sizes are computed from an error estimation. Then their gradient is limited in an optimal way by solving a Hamilton-Jacobi equation numerically. The new mesh is generated using smoothing-based iterations with connectivity updates (changes in topology of the mesh). The boundary nodes are projected using ...
